Director & Chiropractor BSc, MChiro
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a health practitioner helping people.
I received my first chiropractic care as a teenager for a low back pain when playing AFL and cricket. After regular care I noticed some amazing changes. After graduating from Macquarie University in 1996 with a Masters of Chiropractic and working in Sydney for several years I took chiropractic to South America and was one of the early pioneers of the profession in Peru and Brazil. Learning Spanish and Portuguese, appearing regularly on national television and radio and most importantly meeting people who would become life long friends and colleaugues were life changing experiences.
I taught as a Clinic Supervisor at Macquarie University for five years and continue to have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I continue to study and upgrade so we can utilise the most modern and researched methods of chiropractic with a world of experience and a desire to help as many people in the community as possible.
Remedial Massage Therapist
I’ve had a deep interest in health and wellbeing since childhood where a healthy lifestyle, herbal remedies and organic gardening were a way of life. I believe health is all about being able to enjoy life and live it to the fullest – not just be free from pain and disease!
As a professional remedial massage therapist I have a passion for learning new techniques and approaches to help my clients get better faster. After qualifying as a remedial massage therapist, I spent many hours mentoring with some of the industrie’s best sports massage and soft tissue therapists. I also undertook studies in ONSEN technique as developed by the head therapist for Nike’s Olympic athletes and taught by the head therapist for Sydney Olympic Games.
I focus on a Scientific, measurable approach, using special assessments to discover the underlying cause of pain or immobility, and working to bring the whole body into healthy pain-free balance. In addition to deep remedial massage, tailored to the client’s needs and pain tolerances, I specialize in rehabilitating strains, sprains and muscle tears through Cyriax Cross fiber friction, as developed by well-known Osteopath and educator James Cyriax. I also specialize in instantly re-activating neurologically weak or “sleeping” muscles, and switching off tight, hypertonic muscles through sensory nerve feedback.
As a qualified naturopath and nutritionist, I often discuss other aspects of my clients’ health and well-being with them, offering advice on nutrition, detoxification and lifestyle changes, to help speed up their recovery.
In my spare time I love camping, cross country hiking and spending time with friends. I’m also involved with music and youth leadership at my local church.
I have worked in customer services and have a background in the hospitality industry. I love meeting new people and helping others. I find the human body fascinating which is why I became a personal trainer, so I could help others on their health journey.
Watching people’s lives transform for the better puts a big smile on my face, and that’s what I really enjoy about being part of the team at TheBackDr.
To me, good health is the single most important factor in living a happy, healthy and pain free life. That's why I first came to see Dr Andrew and the team at TheBackDr and why my 2 yr old daughter also attends.
I've always been health conscious and interested in ways to improve the health and wellbeing of both myself and my family. I have a background in customer service and I've always enjoyed working with people. Now I get to be part of a great team that gives something back to the local community and serves to improve the health and wellbeing of others.
